About diagnosis
Inspire’s assessment builds your child’s treatment plan — it is not an autism diagnostic evaluation, which insurers typically require for coverage. Need that first? Arizona diagnostic providers are listed here.
Honest Expectations
What can slow things down
- Missing or incomplete documentation — the most common one, and the easiest to prevent
- Your insurer's processing time for verification and prior authorization
- Diagnostic documentation requirements specific to your plan
- Assessment scheduling — yours and the BCBA's
- Current staffing, program openings, and schedule fit
Inspire provides clear updates throughout verification, authorization, availability, and scheduling. Verification, authorization, current availability, and start date are each real progress, and none guarantees the next— so the team keeps things moving and tells you which stage you’re in rather than leaving you waiting.

Answers
Enrollment questions, answered honestly
How do I start ABA therapy with Inspire?
Start with a conversation — call (480) 269-7709 or send the availability form. No paperwork is needed for that first contact. From there, Inspire's published process runs six steps: initial inquiry, referral packet, benefit verification, assessment packet, the BCBA's assessment and evaluation, and the start of therapy.
Do I need a referral for ABA therapy?
It depends on your insurance plan — some plans require one, many don't. You can contact Inspire before you know: benefit verification is the step that tells you exactly what your plan requires, including referrals and diagnostic documentation.
Does my child need an autism diagnosis before enrolling?
You can contact Inspire before a diagnosis. Plans typically require diagnostic documentation before authorizing ABA benefits, and the onboarding paperwork includes a diagnosis upload — so if your child hasn't been evaluated yet, our parent-resources page lists Arizona diagnostic providers, and the team can talk you through the order of operations.
Is the ABA assessment the same as an autism evaluation?
No — this matters. An autism diagnostic evaluation determines whether diagnostic criteria are met, done by a qualified professional like a developmental pediatrician or psychologist. Inspire's assessment is an ABA clinical assessment: a BCBA understanding your child's strengths, needs, and priorities to build a treatment plan. Inspire does not diagnose autism.
Does verifying my benefits guarantee coverage?
No. Verification reports what your plan says about benefits, network status, and requirements. Authorization is a separate insurer decision, and claim payment follows the policy's terms. The team explains each result in plain English so you always know which step you're on.
Does authorization mean therapy starts immediately?
Not automatically. Authorization is one step in the process. The start date also depends on staffing, openings, and scheduling. The team talks through availability honestly at every stage.
How long does enrollment take?
It genuinely varies — mostly with insurer processing times, how quickly paperwork comes back, and assessment scheduling. Rather than quote a number we can't stand behind, the team tells you where you are at each stage and what's next.
What paperwork will I need?
The referral packet and assessment packet (downloadable on this page), a copy of your insurance card, and documentation of your child's diagnosis. Helpful when they exist, but not required to start: previous evaluations, IEPs, and speech/OT reports.
Can I choose in-center or hybrid services?
Yes — tell us your preference at the first conversation; it's a real input. Inspire offers in-center ABA and hybrid services that combine center-based therapy with clinically appropriate in-home support. The BCBA and family determine whether hybrid care fits the child's assessed needs, treatment goals, insurance authorization, staffing, and availability. Inspire does not offer fully in-home ABA as a standalone service.
Can I tour the center before deciding anything?
Yes — and it's a great first step before any paperwork. Request a tour on the tour page or by phone; it's a relaxed look around and a conversation with our team.
Can I change my mind after starting enrollment?
Yes, at any stage. An inquiry isn't a commitment, an assessment isn't a contract, and continuing is always your family's decision.
